On June 23rd from 4-7 pm Platform Status Quo organizes a workshop about Feminist Sluts on Drift Festival.
What?
This workshop is designed to discover your own ‘feminist slut’ within. Though both ‘slut’ and even ‘feminist’ may have a negative connotation in the regular meaning of the word, and seem to exclude each other, in this workshop we are leaving all clichés, stereotypes and prejudices behind. Just as queer has lost it’s meaning as a swearing word, we are reclaiming these words and washing them clean.
In this workshop we try to think outside the box and question opposing categories as ‘good – bad’, ‘marriage- sluthood’, ‘mind – body’, ‘normal – abnormal’ and ‘love – sex’. We don’t believe in one natural or normal sexuality, such as lifelong monogamous (heterosexual) marriage as the ultimate goal for everybody.
Instead, feminist sluts claim the right to design their own sexual values. Feminist sluthood is about what you want, not about a perceived set of rules of what you should do or how you should be. We see sexuality as a positive element of our personal and public life. Freedom of choice and being proud t
ake the place of shame and judgement. During this workshop we together define what ‘feminist sluthood’ means and, with a lot of humor, we search for everybody’s ‘feminist slut’ within. We use the influential book ‘The Ethical Slut’ (by Dossie Easton and Janet Harding) in our search to find our personal slut, feminist, ethical, but most of all: you.

For who is this workshop?
This workshop will be accessible for both Dutch and English speakers and people of all genders & sexualities are more than welcome. You don’t need to be an expert in the field of sexuality or feminist/ethical sluthood, everyone is welcome! As long as you are open to diversity and non-judgemental about other people’s choices.
